Job Description Summary
The Vandalia Site FLIGHT DECK Leader will partner with the Vandalia Plant Leadership Team to lead and coach the team(s) thru site wide lean transformation. The approach will include (but not limited to) supporting model plant efforts for daily management facilitating problem solving activities Value Stream Analysis and Shingijutsu / GE Kaizen Events. Coach & develop team members as required for the FLIGHT DECK fundamentals. Activities will be focused on improving our business and sites defined True North Metrics for Safety Quality Customer Delivery and Cost.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- In this role you will focus on projects / process improvement to ensure that products are manufactured with the appropriate safety quality delivery cost (SQDC) hierarchy. In addition the Site Lean Leader will:
- Champion change across the site to foster the growth and use of FLIGHT DECK methods and tools.
- Demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals programs and processes across all areas of the facility.
- Utilize experience or expertise to solve problems develop and execute objectives for self and others and effect short and some long-term goals.
- Act as a change agent in the implementation of demand flow utilizing lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
- Establish and implement strategies programs and practices to achieve lean business system adoption at the facility.
- Under the coaching of the Site FLIGHT DECK Leader manage the full implementation of the FLIGHT DECK management system including strategy value stream activities daily management andarchitecture/infrastructure.
- Ability to lead teams facilitate train and coach team members in the use of Lean tools.
- Facilitate problem solving events that are aligned with the achievement of the site level metrics.
- Partner with operating leaders and teams to uncover and assess continuous improvement opportunities for GE and its suppliers.
- Partner with the operating leaders and teams to help define the FLIGHT DECK transformation roadmap for the site and drive measurable improvements within the business.
- Bring new ideas motivation and positive support to all levels of the team.
- Interface with OEMs and internal contacts in an effective manner to ensure that technology and processes are positioned for current and future success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree accredited college or university AND a Minimum of 5 years of lean manufacturing leadership experience.
- OR a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 15 years of experience in lean manufacturing leadership experience.
Desired Experience and Characteristics
- Desired experience: 10 years of experience in manufacturing quality improvement and people leadership and 5 years of experience in lean/FLIGHT DECK or operations leadership utilizing lean methodologies.
- Ability to drive improvement strategies while coaching leaders through problem solving techniques.
- Corporate Training Program graduate (Manufacturing / Operations / Engineering)
- Ability to analyze problems identify root causes and provide efficient solutions
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously and work in a matrix organization
- Ability to facilitate across all levels of the organization
- Strong interpersonal leadership oral and written communication skills
