Rutgers the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Center for Cell Signaling Department within New Jersey Medical School. The Papachristodoulou lab () is looking for a highly motivated dedicated and enthusiastic Lab Technician keen to engage in exciting bench work and support on-going research activities. We use innovative pre-clinical models and tools to study the complex genetic mitochondrial and metabolic factors that contribute to prostate cancer pathophysiology and treatment response. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with the PI and other researchers on publication-generating projects. We are newly established lab and offer a team-oriented environment where creativity enthusiasm and dedicated effort are highly rewarded. The individual will be trained in cutting-edge translational approaches to understand the molecular determinants of aggressive prostate cancer and is expected to develop a high level of independence. If desired the Lab Technician will be given the opportunity to take the lead on a personal research project upon mastery of the necessary skills. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Performs various research technical operations relative to ongoing investigatory activities of a laboratory; may conduct independent or s assigned specialized research for a particular project followed by appropriate reports. Provide routine technical and research support to on-going projects compile and assist in data analysis prepare materials for publications and reports. Perform hands-on experimental assays including RNA / DNA extraction protein preparation PCR & real time- PCR western blot analysis and cell culture-based gene manipulation tumorigenic and metabolomic analyses. Additional and/or specialized training will be provided. Assist in daily mouse colony management including daily health checks genotyping breeding monitoring and assisting in animal surgery procedures. Compiles and presents research data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to research activity. Conduct experiments involving hazardous materials such as staining reagents anesthesia reagents liquid nitrogen chemical molecular and histological fixatives. Collects and completes basic preparation of biological samples and specimens.

Preferred Qualifications
(Prostate) cancer research experience. Basic knowledge of in vivo/animal work including genetically engineered mouse models and tumor cell xenograft implantation.
