Job Description

The School Sisters of St. Francis is a non-profit international community of Catholic sisters who unite with others to build a just and peaceful world. Founded in 1874 our sisters associates staff donors and volunteers work to address the needs of those who are poor and marginalized by society. Our mission is thriving with our sisters serving in the United States Europe Latin America India and Tanzania.

We are currently seeking an individual to fill the part-time (20 hours per week) Facilities Director role within our International Offices and Mission Advancement.

JOB PURPOSE:
This position directs activities to coordinate the functions of facilities maintenance environmental services food service and the reception desk within the philosophy of the School Sisters of St. Francis by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Provides visionary and strategic leadership to advance the organizations mission and is responsible for overseeing all operational financial and programmatic functions related to maintenance environmental services food service and the reception desk.
  • Lead the development and prioritization of short- and long-term organizational goals for the maintenance environmental services food service departments and reception desk.
  • Responsible for overseeing and supervising the activities of the Food Services department ensuring that menu planning meets dietary requirements and caters for special events. Accountable for achieving high customer satisfaction and maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Responsible for and supervises work activities of the Environmental Service and the Maintenance departments to ensure the cleanliness timely repair maintenance and installation of equipment maintenance of building grounds and utility systems of all assigned areas including but not limited to St. Josephs Center & St. Josephs Chapel.
  • Responsible for and supervises the work activities of the reception desk.
  • Ensure that the physical facilities equipment and resources of the organization are secure well-maintained and properly managed.
  • Develops long-range plans conceptual designs and capital outlay requirements and documentation for St. Joseph Center.
  • Formulates and coordinates program specifications requirements for proposals and contracts and associated documents.
  • Collaborates with and supports School Sisters of St. Francis chapel ministry and the International Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of eight (8) years related experience. Experience in a non-profit organization is preferred.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business documents technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leadership members sisters coworkers volunteers and members of the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Outlook Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle or touch objects or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
