POSITION SUMMARYUnder the supervision of the Investigations Manager the position of Investigator is responsible for conducting all enforcement and compliance activities of the Gaming Regulatory Act the Regulations and the Compact between the Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indians and the State of Michigan. This includes monitoring and at times reporting on the casino operations activities that occur in and around the casino property involving casino games casino equipment casino personnel patrons and all other areas of the facility relating to casino operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi reserves the right to change amend add delete and otherwise assign any and all duties responsibilities and position titles as it deems necessary to meet the needs of the government.
- Physically monitor the casino floor and back of house areas with compliance checklist(s) and document finding(s).
- Physically monitor Table and Slot Drops and document findings on a checklist.
- Monitor casino staff while they inspect cards and dice and document finding on checklist or summary report.
- Place seals (security tape) on approved Slot Machine software & CPU boards.
- Examine a random sample of Slot machine MEAL books to ensure entries are made when the door is opened.
- Comply with all NHBPI and Gaming Commission Policies Procedures and Directives.
- Coordinate with Local State and Federal Law Enforcement Officers as necessary to conduct and assist in investigative activities.
- Develop a conceptual understanding of all FireKeepers Gaming related jobs their functions and maintain working knowledge of all FireKeepers Internal Controls.
- Monitor document and report Internal Control compliance violations to the Investigations Manager.
- Complete all compliance & enforcement work and reports with the maximum amount of proficiency effort and accuracy; conduct investigative interviews effectively.
- Certify various types of software as needed for installation and audits.
- Assist patrons with Gaming Disputes & Complaints conduct investigations write reports and advise the Investigations Manager thereof.
- Assist patrons with the self-exclusion process complete reports document self-exclusions in a tracking database and email updates to those on the self-exclusion email distribution lists.
- Check emails and respond accordingly; check office and mobile phones for messages and complete paperwork as needed.
- Document Investigations activities within the daily activity log.
- Work any shift including but not limited to holidays and weekends.
- Assist with the training of new Investigators.
- Participate in the development of Gaming Commission objectives.
- Perform other duties as directed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
An applicants education training and experience must be sufficient to demonstrate that the applicant possesses the ability to successfully perform each of the essential functions. - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in criminal justice and/or information technology through past work experience and/or college level study.
- Experience conducting fact-finding interviews. *
- Willingness to initiate contact with people as in the course of conducting investigations e.g. interviewing fact-finding etc.
- Use of discretion and problem-solving methodologies in the course of conflict management and other applicable situations.
- Requisite administrative organizational and communication skills.
- Requisite navigation and utilization of personal computers software such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro as well as general office equipment.
- Recognition of regulatory terminology with the ability to interpret and apply Tribal Federal State local and other relevant laws regulations/codes as needed. *
- Work holidays weekends and varying shifts.
- Willingness to learn and operate computer programs necessary to complete software certification and track gaming activity.
- Work and function well in a team setting as well as independently.
- Preservation and protection of sensitive information while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Attend training and travel as required.
- Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
- Meet the suitability standards necessary to obtain and maintain a Gaming License.
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Possess a maintain a valid drivers license.
* Training in lieu of experience may be substituted contingent upon successful post-training application of newly acquired skill set.
Preferred Qualifications
- Native American gaming industry experience.
- AA AS degree in Business Criminal Justice and/or Law.

INDIAN PREFERENCE
Tribal preference will be applied in accordance with the NHBP Indian Preference in Employment Code which requires that preference in employment be afforded to NHBP members spouse/parents of NHBP members and Native Americans who meet the minimum qualifications and can successfully perform the essential functions for the position.

Employee will work mainly in an office setting handling administrative duties for NHBP employees and/or tribal community members. As an employee of the Gaming Commission employees will consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tribe and the Tribal Court for any and all disputes in connection with their employment with the Tribe. They also consent to the application of Tribes law both substantive and procedural regarding any and all proceedings matters and things relating to their employment relationship with the Tribe. Employees consent to the Tribes grievance procedure and to the Tribes courts for any and all disputes related to their employment with the Tribe.
