About the role:

The Senior Lecturer will engage in and increasingly develop and lead academic or other collaborations that enable novel and high-quality teaching research or creative activities with applied experience in the data sciences/research methods discipline area. The position will lead growing increasingly productive high-quality research scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs. The Senior Lecturer will lead unit and course teaching teams in undergraduate programs to improve the student learning experience and outcomes related to data sciences statistics and research methods in psychology. The appointee will focus on delivering and continuously refining the units pertaining to data sciences and research methods and other units as required.

The incumbent will report to the Head of School and will interact regularly with other research and teaching staff within the School and the Faculty. They can expect to be an active member of the SEED Lifespan Strategic Research Centre and to collaborate with other researchers in the school and more broadly in the Faculty and University. They will liaise with students at all levels.

As a Senior Lecturer you will:

  • Lead unit and course teaching teams in research methods and work collaboratively with other teaching teams in the faculty to develop effective unit/courses curricula and learning materials (including through course leadership roles). Lead review of units and courses and implement refinements.
  • Integrate industry clinical and/or research practice into unit/course design to improve student learning experiences success engagement and resources.
  • Lead the development and/or adoption of new innovation in curriculum design within a course and deliver learner-centric research-informed teaching practices across different levels / modes of delivery.
  • Design collaborative learning opportunities at the course level. Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit and course material and practices.
  • Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit and course level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes. Lead moderation of assessment tasks at course level and adapt practices to improve learning outcomes.
  • Provide academic support to students within units and courses and work collaboratively to improve student support services to optimise student outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and educational excellence within the discipline. Build teaching and learning capability and effective unit and course teaching teams related to discipline or pedagogy and support the professional development of other academics. Conduct mentoring of colleagues to help improve their teaching practices. Integrate of new pedagogical research across all aspects of education and collaborate with teams to support efforts to secure resources to fund pedagogical research opportunities. Make significant advances in knowledge within their fields/areas of teaching scholarship and pedagogical research activity.
  • Make a significant contribution to pedagogy research projects and demonstrate a disciplinary reputation in teaching scholarship and pedagogical research. Complete the Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching.

To be successful youll have:

  • PhD in psychology or a relevant discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in psychology or a relevant discipline area.
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate programs especially in research methods and data sciences including innovative curriculum design and research supervision.
  • Nationally recognised research reputation underpinned by publications in quality journals and exhibitions where relevant to the discipline.
  • Positive engagement with research community industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline.
  • Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching research and administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.

Special Requirements

  • This position may require the incumbent to travel domestically and/or internationally to attend conferences events and to represent the university.
  • Must have a Working with Children Check and a National Police Record Check as per Recruitment Procedure.
