Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement the Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing all levels of departmental administrative support including but not limited to copying phone/reception mail handling filing scheduling meetings coordinating activities and general typing. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

  1. Exhibits good guest relations with patients referring physicians visitors and hospital employees.
  2. Answers screens and transfers inbound phone calls.
  3. Receives and directs visitors patients and staff.
  4. Performs general clerical duties including photocopying fax and mailing.
  5. Maintains electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  6. Handles requests for information and data.
  7. Prepares and modifies documents including correspondence reports drafts memos and emails.
  8. Schedules and coordinates meetings and appointments.
  9. Prepares agendas for meetings and record compile transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings.
  10. Opens sorts and distributes incoming correspondence.
  11. Assumesall other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Outpatient Therapy Audiology Speech:

  1. Serves as the department insurance link; performs prior authorization for services.
  2. Performs tasks of posting charges and keeping statistics for department.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent experience required.
  • Courses in office procedures or equivalent required.

Special Knowledge Skills Training:

  • Interpersonal typing skills and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge in the use of spreadsheets and presentation programs.
  • Knowledge in the use of database programs.
  • Ability to read write and do math as generally demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED.

Compensation Details: Education experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
