Systems Engineering, Senior Advisor

Join Peratons dynamic Operations Team supporting a cutting-edge cloud environment platform built primarily in Java leveraging Free and Open-Source Software technologies including Kubernetes Hadoop and Accumulo. This platform enables the execution of large-scale data-intensive analytics on a managed infrastructure designed to deliver high performance scalability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain a complex cloud-based analytics platform ensuring system stability reliability and optimal performance in a production environment.

• Provide comprehensive Tier 1 through Tier 3 technical support including incident management troubleshooting root cause analysis and problem resolution.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy monitor and manage Kubernetes clusters Hadoop data lakes and Accumulo databases.

• Perform daily operational tasks such as system health checks log analysis patch management and performance tuning within a Linux environment.

• Act as a primary point of contact for customers delivering timely and effective support to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and customer satisfaction goals.

• Proactively identify potential system issues recommend improvements and implement solutions to enhance platform reliability and operational efficiency.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 operational support ensuring rapid response to critical incidents and minimizing downtime.

• Document operational procedures troubleshoot guides and best practices to support knowledge sharing across the team.

• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to cloud infrastructure big data platforms and open-source tools.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working within Linux-based cloud environments with strong skills in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.

• Familiarity with Java-based platforms and the ability to understand and support software running in such environments.

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes orchestration container management and cloud-native application deployment.

• Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop and Accumulo including cluster management and data operations.

• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced collaborative team environment.

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as required.

• Experience supporting mission-critical applications and infrastructure is highly desirable.

• Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering Computer Science Information Systems Engineering Science Engineering Management or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Note: Five (5) additional years of Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

• Twenty (20) years of experience as a Systems Engineer working on programs and contracts of similar scope type and complexity is required.

• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.

• Possession of an active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with big data technologies specifically Hadoop.

• Scripting skills in languages such as Python and Bash.
