Job Description

Overview

Presbyterian Hospital is hiring skilled Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)to join our Med-Surg team.

Our Medical-Surgical Unit is a vital part of our hospital offering a dynamic and supportive environment where LPNs are valued members of the care team.

The LPN will work under the supervision of RNs and physicians to provide direct patient care support recovery and ensure a safe and healing environment for patients with a variety of medical and post-surgical needs. Provides direct patient care in the acute care setting in the inpatient area utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse.

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (0.9 FTE/36 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 12-hour Day and Night shifts available

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

Nursing Diploma

Licensed Practical Nurse-NM or out of state compact LPN license

BLS required at time of hire

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care including monitoring vital signs assisting with mobility and supporting activities of daily living
Administer prescribed medications injections and IV therapies under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician.
Assist in dressing changes wound care and post-surgical care according to physician orders.
Observe and report changes in patient conditions including symptoms reactions to treatments or changes in vital signs.
Work closely with RNs physicians and other members of the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans for patients.
Provide patients and families with instructions regarding post-discharge care medication regimens and follow-up appointments.
Adhere to infection control protocols including proper hand hygiene use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and sterile techniques.
Assist in responding to patient emergencies and follow protocols to ensure timely and appropriate care.
