Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.

  • Permanent Full time 1.0 EFT (80 hours per fortnight including monthly ADO)

Department
Allied Health Workforce

Alfred Healths Multidisciplinary Allied Health Assistant Department provides support to a broad range of allied health professionals across all three sites at Alfred Health: The Alfred Hospital Caulfield Hospital and Sandringham Hospital. The department consists of more than 25EFT and employs a large pool of casual staff. The department continues to develop partnerships with education providers providing placement opportunities for students undertaking Allied Health Assistant qualifications.

The Role
The Allied Health Assistant works closely with the multidisciplinary allied health team to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each patients identified therapeutic and discharge goals. The position is responsible for the implementation of individual interventions and/or therapy programs as delegated by the treating therapists. The AHA will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide services that may include sourcing practical advice and providing support to patients and families to complete applications for services and benefits. The AHA will also be responsible for administrative and clinical support functions which assist with patient management and contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the ward.

It is a condition of employment that individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation OR
  • Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager)
    • Overseas-trained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher
  • Higher qualification in a relevant health science discipline at Diploma or Associate Diploma level
  • Certificate level qualification in a relevant health-related field
  • Applicants considered for the Grade 3 classification must have a minimum of 3 years of experience (full-time equivalent)
