Summary

Distinguishing Career Features

  • The Pharmacy Technician reports to the Pharmacy Director. The Pharmacy Technician will perform routine functions that do not require the use of professional judgement in connection with the preparation compounding distribution and/or dispensing of medications. Pharmacy Technicians will be trained on the job under the direct supervision of a licensed registered Pharmacist to perform functions delegated by the registered Pharmacist. This position is located at the San Poil Valley Health Center must be willing to cover at the Inchelium Clinic site as needed. If training is required the individual will train at the Inchelium Clinic. Our goal for this position is to contribute to the overall patient satisfaction for their pharmacy services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Convert physician medication orders into typed prescription labels.
  • Utilize clinic computer equipment to generate labels collect data and produce patient care information.
  • Maintain records do drug inventory stock shelves.
  • Compute drug costs and charges; assist in updating and providing pharmacy billing information.
  • Maintain positive and professional patient/pharmacy relations with LRCHC patients and staff. Professional conduct ethics and confidentiality are always expected.
  • Answers patient phone calls and refill requests.
  • Telephone/Fax outside providers with patient request for refills of their medications.
  • Collects co-payment and other patient payments.
  • Order medications maintain Parr levels.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and Skills

Working knowledge of general administrative practices. Demonstrates a strong record of positive peer/client relationships which include strong customer skills. Participates in team building and conflict resolution. Requires sufficient knowledge of proper English usage grammar spelling and punctuation to prepare professional correspondence and write and edit report text. Requires sufficient human relations skill to work productively and cooperatively with other work teams exercise patience when dealing with internal and external customers and convey technical concepts.

  • Abilities

Ability to handle a large volume of work and at times can be a very stressful environment. Good telephone etiquette. Excellent customer service skills. Exceptional organizational skills. Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills the ability to keep detailed records. Ability to work independently.

  • Physical Abilities

Sitting weightlifting up to 50 pounds bending/stooping crouching twisting reaching operation of equipment tools foot controls etc. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers. Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations over the phone and in person.

  • Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

Must have computer use knowledge.

Must have above average math skills.

WA State Pharmacy Assistance license required.

Requires a valid WA State drivers license and be eligible for the Tribes vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment. Required to obtain certificates for HIPAA and the Privacy Act.

Work is performed indoors. Coordinates with other Tribal programs as services may be required/requested.

This position is subject to pre-employment random post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing. Must clean an extensive Criminal History Background inquiry reflecting no convictions in the past ten (10) years and NO felony convictions. Better than average attendance record. A background clearance may be required. Tribal member and Indian preference will apply. Preference will be given to honorably discharged veterans who are minimally qualified.
