The Pathology Department at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for aProject Manager 1.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Project Manager 1 oversees the planning implementation and tracking of a variety of projects to ensure the successful development completion and implementation of department projects and initiatives.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Defines the scope of projects in conjunction with leadership.
2. Discusses the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.
3. Determines the resources required to complete each project.
4. Establishes and documents comprehensive project plans and timelines which identify and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete projects.
5. Reviews project schedules with leadership and other staff that will be affected by the project activities.
6. Monitors the progress of the projects and makes adjustments to ensure successful completion.
7. Consults with the appropriate leadership on the selection of staff to assist with projects.
8. Assigns project task to the identified project team for handling.
9. Ensures all project personnel receive orientation that is appropriate to the project.
10. Manages project staff according to the established policies and practices of the organization.
11. Reviews the quality of work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that work produced meets project standards.
12. Documents all project-related activities and ensures project files are maintained and secured accordingly.
13. Creates a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of projects.
14. Prepares presentations and presents status reports for leadership
15. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelors degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Operational Management: Optimizes day-to-day operations and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Organizational Development: Ability to implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness engagement and manage change.
Financial Oversight: Knowledge of financial operations and management.
Team Leadership: Ability to create and maintain a cohesive and productive team environment build positive working relationships and work collaboratively with others.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software technology and relevant computer applications.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey ideas clearly and persuasively.
Department Specific functions
1. Coordinate all new laboratory builds renovations and expansion projects across departmental clinical laboratories.
2. Maintain and routinely update comprehensive equipment inventory lists for all clinical lab departments.
3. Assist with the preparation and submission of documentation for biennial laboratory license renewals.
4. Organize and oversee Lab Week activities and celebrations in collaboration with department leadership.
5. Review weekly and monthly RL6 reports to ensure all incidents and follow-ups have been appropriately addressed.
6. Support laboratory leadership with the planning coordination and execution of departmental and system-wide projects.
7. Work with the AVP to ensure optimal process improvements are being performed
8. Back-up for the onboarding process for all Pathology contractors including LabCorp C&H Roys and MedPro.
9. Prepares presentations for leadership meetings.
10. Coordinates and documents annual fire drills for the laboratories.
