Reports to: Director Global Cancer Program
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Shifts: Day Shifts Monday - Friday
Status: Permanent Full-Time

Position Summary:
The Princess Margaret Global Cancer Program aims to be an academic centre in global oncology by working together with our international partners to improve health achieve equity in cancer care and train the next generation of cancer leaders. Working under the direction of the Director Global Cancer Program the Research Associate II will oversee the administration of seed grants prepare major grant applications manage the start up of new studies research and draft white papers facilitate and support collaboration between international partners as well as various other research and administrative duties. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate interested in participatory work towards innovative solutions aimed at reducing disparities in cancer treatment for people worldwide.

Duties:

  • Prepare major grant applications including for CIHR;
  • Prepare and submit research ethics applications to REB;
  • Manage the start up of new studies including developing research protocols;
  • Project manage seed grant program including calls for applications managing applications and reviews administering funds and renewal cycles etc.;
  • Oversee portfolios external communications;
  • Research and draft in collaboration with others white papers on topics related to the mission of the global cancer program;
  • Develop maintain and strengthen relationships with international partners; 
  • Perform other research duties including study design setting of research goals selection and development of procedures;
  • Develop and oversee summer student and trainee programs;
  • May provide functional supervision for personnel as assigned;
  • Administrative and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • Masters Degree in Health Science or related field;
  • 7 years of related experience;
  • Advanced research knowledge and skills including with the start up of new studies;
  • Experience preparing major grant applications;
  • Demonstrated project management skills required;
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills required;
  • Experience working in global health and/or global oncology preferred;
  • Experience in grant administration preferred;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and influence internally and externally;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently;
  • Client-service oriented with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
