Were looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join Snap!
Growth Notifications aims to drive critical business metrics (e.g. DAU/MAU story views) through relevant timely and personalized but unsolicited communications (nudges) through suitable available channels (e.g. app push email sms) in a cost-effective manner while maintaining data accuracy and platform integrity. We drive user growth and engagement by helping the user discover timely relevant and personalized content that entices the user to repeatedly come back to the platform and engage in retentive activities. We use interruptive communication channels such as app push notifications smses and emails which demand immediate user attention and as such are highly effective in driving user action.
What youll do:
Set the strategy build a roadmap create measurable goals and lead your team to deliver the critical infrastructure behind core Messaging product in Snapchat
Manage and mentor a team of developers in a fast-paced quick-to-market environment
Collaborate with Product Operation Data Science and Engineering teams and executive stakeholders
Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor
Hire grow and retain high-performing team members by creating growth opportunities giving regular feedback and managing performance
Lead a team of 10 backend engineers with expertise building platforms to unlock greater developer efficiency and growth impact
Balance near medium and long-term objectives to achieve business goals today while laying the foundations for a long term roadmap
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Background with building high availability and mission critical systems
Experience with leading an engineering team
Ability leading and executing large complex technical initiatives
Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders at all levels of a company
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience
8 years of post-Bachelors software development experience; or a Masters degree in a technical field 7 year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field 4 years of post-grad software development experience
1 years of experience as an Engineering Manager
Demonstrated track record of building and operating reliable scalable services in AWS with a strong focus on observability cost efficiency and incident response
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on high-availability or real-time systems (e.g. messaging payments search)
Familiarity with service oriented architecture and service orchestration
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing highly collaborative multi-stakeholder environments
Experience with building and maintaining mission-critical highly-available high QPS global systems

Compensation
In the United States work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills experience qualifications work location and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this position is $229000-$343000 annually.This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
