Special Education Teacher - Elementary

Job duties: Responsible for providing appropriate Special Education Programs to eligible exceptional learners with a learning disability emotional disturbance behavior disorders visual impairments and autism. Instruct students in academic subjects using phonetics multi-sensory learning and repetition to reinforce learning and meet students varying needs and interests. Teach socially acceptable behavior implementing behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Employ special educational strategies and techniques during instruction to improve sensory and perceptual-motor skills language cognition and memory development. Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student. Confer with parents administrators testing specialists social workers and professionals to develop individual educational plans designed to promote students educational physical and social development to resolve students behavioral and academic problems. Modify the general education curriculum to incorporate instructional techniques and technologies that cater to the needs of special-needs students. Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on children and activities as required by laws district policies and administrative regulations. Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Spl. Ed / Education or related with twenty-four months of experience in Teaching.
License/Certification: Must have a teaching license (certification) to teach in the State of NM.
