Your day to day as a Health Support Professional
As a Full Time Health Support Professional at The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler in Elmira you will provide essential assistance with personal care tasks including bathing grooming toileting dressing and hygiene always in a respectful and supportive manner. Your responsibilities will encompass monitoring and documenting vital signs and any changes in health status promptly reporting any concerns to nursing and supervisory staff. Youll play a crucial role in promoting safe mobility including lifting transferring and repositioning individuals as well as assisting during mealtimes while ensuring adherence to dietary guidelines. In addition to maintaining a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping youll participate in implementing individualized habilitation plans that encourage skill development and independence. Your accuracy in documentation engagement with the interdisciplinary team and support during medical appointments will contribute to meaningful inclusion for the individuals you serve all while upholding their rights and dignity.
Requirements for this Health Support Professional job
To succeed as a Full Time Health Support Professional at The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler possessing a current or inactive New York State certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or as a Home Health Aide (HHA) is essential. Alternatively candidates with previously held certifications may also be considered. Strong communication skills are necessary for effectively reporting changes in health status and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
Experience in supporting individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities will give you an advantage in understanding and addressing specific needs. Additionally being adaptable and empathetic is crucial in providing respectful and individualized care. Familiarity with documentation tools and adherence to health and safety protocols will ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
Lastly a commitment to ongoing professional development and attendance at mandatory trainings will enhance your capabilities in this rewarding role.
