The Principal Information Security Consultant is responsible for providing expert technical support to the SOC with a focus on threat hunting. A technical specialist and escalation point for the SOC the Principal Information Security Consultant mentors junior staff sharing knowledge and experience.

This role will focus on driving continuous improvement of threat hunting and SOC capabilities with an emphasis on proactive defense and analytics. It involves staying ahead of emerging threats through ongoing skill development and advanced methodologies leveraging digital forensics expertise to support incident response and investigations. The role also includes mentoring junior team members and leading initiatives to strengthen Westpacs overall security posture.

What do I need

  • 8 years in a Cyber Security role. Leadership experience highly desirable but not necessary.
  • In-depth experience in Threat Hunting DFIR and EDR tools.
  • Cyber Incident Management experience. Relevant industry-recognised qualifications highly desirable.
  • Expertise in digital forensics and analysis of electronic evidence to support incident response activities.
  • Proven ability to analyse cyber threat intelligence and translate insights into actionable outcomes
  • Exposure to IT security operations in a large or complex organisation.
  • Highly developed leadership written and verbal communication skills.
