The Role:
As a Production Group Leader the individual is responsible for supervising a group of employees involved in production or operations. The group is responsible for quality products in a safe and timely manner! Also the Co-Op student will be responsible for reducing costs eliminating waste and improving safety practices. Together with other Group Leaders you are part of a team supporting business objectives and maintaining operation at a world-class level! Some of the problem-solving work is of a technical nature. This type of work requires the ability to make timely decisions within specified limits that the individual can effectively cope with change and can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
Furthermore the Production Group Leader can expect to be collaborating on innovation challenges interacting with industry leaders attending professional trade events and volunteering for community service activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise hourly represented employees in a unionized environment
Implement Health & Safety laws and promote a safe work environment
Ensure quality levels are maintained and improved every day
Maintain and exceed efficiency levels through continuous improvements
Effective use of personnel material and equipment
Align with terms of local and national labour agreements
Maintain department records and complete various administrative tasks
Supervise and achieve business plan objectives and targets
Shift rotations and flexible to work weekends and overtime as required
Qualifications:
Pursuit of a Post-Secondary Education with a Co-Op component (preferably 3rd of 4th year)
Eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Canada and for 8 12 or 16-month term (2-4 consecutive semesters) starting September 2025
Willing to work in a plant environment and flexible hours (shift work weekends and overtime to meet business needs)
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior manufacturing experience knowledge of production environments and in automotive industry are considered assets
Previous supervisory or team leading experience
Desired Skills:
Outstanding leadership interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience
High level of integrity ability to deal with ambiguity takes initiative/self-directed
Evidence of strong character with integrity honesty accountability and trust
Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric
Excellent project management skills and the proven ability to manage numerous projects at any given
Possess strong organizational problem-solving and analytical skills
Fundamental digital literacy including understanding of MS Word Excel Access and PowerPoint
