Job Description
POLITICO is seeking an ambitious and enterprising reporter to cover Capitol Hill for our growing Defense team.
POLITICOs Defense team digs into consequential issues across a wide range of areas at the intersection of weapons warfare politics and policy. Were looking for a deeply sourced reporter with an interest in all things defense who can deliver agenda-setting scoops on top lawmakers defense-focused committees the budget relations with the administration and key policy-makers.
The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering breaking news and enterprise reporting in a fast-paced daily newsroom. This position includes ample opportunity to write stories that appear across all of POLITICOs platforms from newsy dispatches for subscribers to enterprise stories for POLITICOs homepage to Morning Defense and other newsletters both in the U.S. and in Europe.
What Youll Need:
- At least two years of experience working as a reporter in a daily newsroom.
- Excellent news judgment and a deep understanding of how the Defense Department and Capitol Hill work.
- The desire to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues throughout the company in the U.S. and Europe.
- A track record of delivering scoops and enterprise on a beat.
