Job Description
Hello Neighbor is seeking a SASIC Case Aide to support Hello Neighbors SASIC program that provides services to newly arriving refugees and other eligible immigrant populations with the opportunity to maximize their potential in the United States. This program focuses on improving the lives of ORR-eligible families in Pittsburgh by providing holistic support to reduce barriers to self-sufficiency including healthcare and community service access. The SASIC Case Aide will play a key role in managing transportation for healthcare appointments offering self-sufficiency strategies and working collaboratively across a dual-agency team program. The ideal candidate will maintain strong cultural and community boundaries while fostering meaningful impactful connections to improve the Afghan communitys experience in Pittsburgh.
This SASIC Case Aide role will work within a dual-agency case management team to support eligible families for at least one year and up to three years. This will include providing physical healthcare coordination medical appointment accompaniment extended cultural orientation and advocacy in accessing culturally and linguistically appropriate services. The range of assignments makes this role an exceptional launch pad for personal and professional growth within Hello Neighbor and beyond. Founded in 2017 Hello Neighbor empowers refugees and immigrants through community connections helping them move from arrival to belonging with dignity cultural sensitivity and meaningful support. Our work is organized across three departmentsEducation & Community Empowerment Health & Stabilization and Employmenteach running programs designed to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve. In addition to our local work we lead a National Network of grassroots organizations across the U.S. united by a shared commitment to supporting refugee and immigrant families and inspiring long-term change.
This is an in-house limited-term full-time non-exempt position at our Pittsburgh PA office in Larimer through February 28th 2026 with the possibility of extension pending funding. We are currently on a hybrid work schedule of 9am-5pm Monday through Friday; in the office on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays. The successful candidate must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
Reports To: Director of Health & Stabilization
Key Responsibilities
- Supports the SASIC program with a focus on reducing cultural and linguistic barriers for Afghan refugees and immigrants.
- Coordinates transportation for clients to medical mental health and community service appointments ensuring timely and effective communication across the dual-agency program team.
- Provides hands-on assistance and teaching to clients to develop self-sufficiency strategies for transportation healthcare navigation and accessing community services.
- Maintains strong cultural and community boundaries while advocating for client needs and fostering respectful trauma-informed interactions.
- Communicates consistently with team members and external partners to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to case management.
- Documents client interactions and services promptly and thoroughly adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
- Advocates for culturally appropriate care standards and ensures interpretation and translation services are available as needed.
- Participates in regular supervision meetings and relevant staff meetings.
- Adheres to Hello Neighbors confidentiality guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual or multilingual in a priority language is strongly preferred (Dari Pashto).
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience working with refugee and immigrant communities or in a culturally diverse environment.
- Possesses cultural competencies including knowledge attitudes and behaviors relevant to the Afghan community.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with compassionate professional interactions with clients staff and partners.
- Skilled at task management including prioritizing meeting deadlines and managing multiple responsibilities.
- Car valid drivers license and proof of insurance are required.
- Willingness to transport families in your personal vehicle.
- Experience navigating the U.S. healthcare system including medical insurance and appointments is a plus.
- Familiarity with working with interpreters and advocating for trauma-informed culturally sensitive care.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as necessary and share on-call responsibilities with the team.
- Digital literacy and the ability to learn new software systems.
- Alignment with and support of Hello Neighbors core values.
- Lived migration experience or fluency in Dari Pashto or other languages relevant to the Afghan community is a plus.
Additional Details
- This is a full-time limited-term non-exempt in-house position at our Pittsburgh office in the Larimer neighborhood through February 28th 2026
- Clearances required: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance (PA Act 23 & Act 24); Mandatory Reporter and/or PSEA training may also be required depending on job requirements
- Valid drivers license required personal vehicle and proof of insurance are required; MVR records will be required

- The successful candidate must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
- $18.50 - $20 hourly nonexempt
