JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director of Special Programs supports the day-to-day activities of the Honors Program and PEAK/Academic Services. This 12-month position will have office hours Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

George Center for Honors Program

  • Coordinate with the Admissions Office tracking potential candidates for the program assisting with outreach recruitment and marketing. Help organize Admissions events focused on Honors.

  • Provide supervision of the Honors House maintain the calendar for all Honors Program events and related activities and oversee the Student Honors Organization.

  • Provide administrative assistance to the director and Honors faculty as needed including preparation of finalized thesis projects planning for Showcase Days preparation and organization of assessment reports and course evaluations teach the first-year seminar course for Honors students.

  • Other duties as assigned.

PEAK and Academic Services

  • Serve as the administrative point person for the colleges online and hybrid programs. Assist with outreach recruitment and marketing.

  • Assist with academic advising for current and incoming students during admissions events orientations and the regular registration period.

  • Assist with processing instructor-initiated class withdrawals and preparing student petitions for committee consideration.

  • Serve as the liaison between the faculty and the marketing team to implement minor web changes to academic pages.

  • Assist with other duties as needed depending on the qualifications of the candidate.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in a related discipline; work experience in higher education or K-12 education preferred.

  • Personable; willing to engage with students of varying interests and needs.

  • Organized punctual and industrious

  • A self-starter who actively explores and pursues what needs to be done
