POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director the successful candidate will work closely with members of the Heart Centre Executive and Patient Care Leadership Teams in leading the advancement of quality safety culture and operations at the program level. As the leader for overall program operations they will be a resource for unit-level leaders and program staff on issues related to quality safety and operations as well as patient and family relations. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent leadership organization communication and change management skills through engagement with staff medical staff patients and families. In keeping with the mission and value statements of the Hospital they will also:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in collaboration with the patient care leadership teams to develop departmental goals and strategies
  • Manage and supervise clinical teams within the portfolio.
  • Foster a child youth and family centered approach to care.
  • Foster an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to care.
  • Create and monitor metrics for clinical teams within the portfolio to ensure optimal patient outcomes and excellent service delivery.
  • Manage human resources effectively which includes:
  • Collaborating with Talent Acquisition to hire staff
  • Collaborating with CHEO Scheduling Office to schedule staff and manage attendance
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Conducting performance appraisals and collaborating with Labour Relations in dealing with performance related issues imposing discipline recommending terminations
  • Ensuring staff have the required resources to carry out their functions
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary processes and team functions
  • Follow up on incident report generated through the Safety Reporting System (SRS).
  • Manage budgets within assigned amounts monitoring expenses and processing payments.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of nursing quality improvement initiatives using an evidence-based approach.
  • Participate on committees working groups meetings acting in a leadership liaison and/or consultative role.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Director Perioperative Services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing or another health care discipline (Essential)
  • Masters degree or evidence of work toward completion of a Masters degree in a health care related field (Preferred)
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience including clinical leadership experience (formal or informal) (Essential)
  • Excellent negotiation problem solving and conflict management skills (Essential)
  • Proven ability in working effectively with all members of the health care team (Essential)
  • Ability to be an effective change agent (Essential)
  • Demonstrated use of metrics to inform decision making (Essential)

  • Demonstrated experience in LEAN and/or continuous quality improvement in a healthcare organization (Essential)
  • Proficient with software relevant to the position i.e. Microsoft 365 REDCap EPIC (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated initiative to problem solve complex problems and to adjust priorities (Essential)
  • Criminal Record Check (Level 1) (Essential)
  • Bilingualism (French/English) (Preferred)

Effective March 29 2021 CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test practical exam or other assessment. POSITION SUMMARY

Relevant de la direction la personne retenue collaborera troitement avec les membres de lquipe de direction du Centre cardiologique et de lquipe de direction des soins aux patients pour diriger lavancement de la qualit et de la scurit de la culture et des activits du programme. En tant que chef de file pour lensemble des activits du programme cette personne servira de ressource pour les chefs de service et le personnel du programme en ce qui concerne les questions lies la qualit la scurit et aux activits ainsi que les relations avec les patientes ou patients et leur famille. La personne retenue fera montre de ses excellentes comptences en leadership en organisation en communication et en gestion du changement dans le cadre de ses interventions auprs du personnel (mdical ou non) des patients et patientes et des familles. Conformment la mission et aux noncs de valeurs de lhpital elle assumera galement les responsabilits qui suivent.
