Job Description

General Clerk II
ROLE
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable General Clerk II to support the United States Attorneys Office for the Middle District of Louisiana (USAO-MDLA). This full-time position is responsible for providing a variety of on-site clerical and administrative support services related to litigation and office operations. The ideal candidate is proactive organized and capable of working independently and as part of a professional team in a legal environment. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide general clerical support including light typing of recurring litigation documents
  • File records (letters memoranda pleadings reports etc.) alphabetically numerically or chronologically
  • Retrieve various records and documents as needed
  • Sort review and distribute incoming mail
  • Prepare outgoing mail: stuff envelopes affix postage and wrap bulky packages
  • Operate telephone switchboard and serve as back-up receptionist; transfer calls take messages provide general information
  • Operate copiers scanners and media duplication equipment
  • Perform data entry in Case Management and/or Budget Database systems
  • Conduct occasional messenger runs to the courthouse
  • Restock office supplies (may involve lifting items up to 25 lbs.)
  • Provide administrative and data entry support to one or more program areas
  • Interact professionally with all levels of staff; meet deadlines and contribute to a collaborative office environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma required; undergraduate degree preferred
  • At least 12 years of experience in clerical administrative or legal support roles
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in data entry and word processing
  • Ability to manage and analyze data from multiple sources
  • Familiarity with generating form letters and mailing list merges
  • Experience preparing reports and correspondence using word processing tools
  • Ability to apply specialized legal terminology
  • Skilled in online record creation data updates and verification
  • Ability to answer case-related inquiries and interpret data systems
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma required
  • Undergraduate degree preferred

Baton Rouge Louisiana (USAO-MDLA)

CLEARANCE
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Background investigation required
CLIENT

TRAVEL
  • Occasional limited to local courier assignments
WORK HOURS
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday standard business hours
