Compensation: $50000 Benefits (that currently include):

  • Medical (Anthem): 3 copay/deductible options; base plan is $40/paycheck

  • Vision (Mutual of Omaha): $60 per year; $130 hardware allowance- Employee Funded

  • Dental (Mutual of Omaha): $500 per year; $1750 annual benefit- Employee Funded

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager the Senior Accountant will assist with bookkeeping procedures at the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI). This includes maintaining detailed payment records for state and federal grant accounting. The ideal candidate is reliable flexible a self-sufficient problem solver and demonstrates meticulous attention to detail. They will proactively support program service departments and the operations team with enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit.

SALARY:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process assistance checks for program departments ensuring accuracy and proper approval.

  • Monitor all bank credit and debit card activity ensuring proper approvals and accurate allocation to grants reconciling and recording all activity in QuickBooks.

  • Process and monitor Immigration Legal Services payment receipts including credit card and cash receipts.

  • Oversee the USIO gift card monthly report and card activations in collaboration with Program Directors.

  • Ensure all applications for rental and/or food assistance comply with grant requirements.

  • Manage accounts payable including recording invoices verifying approval allocating to grants/departments and maintaining approved vendor database ensuring proper tax and insurance documents are on file and current.

  • Perform allocation processes for direct expenses such as telephone interpretations translations facilities costs and employee benefits.

  • Collect deposit and record cash check and online deposits for donations and services.

  • Special Projects as requested included but not limited to IT project administration in collaboration with CFO and IT provider assistance with statistical reporting assistance with company and grant audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting functions including proficiency in QuickBooks or other similar accounting software.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to use Excel tools to organize and analyze data from multiple sources.

  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks.

  • At least one year of relevant experience in bookkeeping or grants accounting.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments.

  • Comfortable working in multicultural environments.

  • Commitment to CIRIs core values and mission to support refugees immigrants and their families.

  • Comfortable with technology and quick to learn new systems

  • Proficient with digital tools and platforms

  • Strong technical aptitude
