Project Overview:
Bechtels focus on renewables and clean energy is helping our customers deliver transformational renewables and clean energy projects. Bechtel renewables team will perform the project management engineering procurement construction commissioning and startup for the Mammoth South Central I and Central II project for a 376MW DC each (Total of 1.1GW DC) solar plant in Pulaski County Indiana
Job Summary:
In this role you will lead a team to manage subcontracts and monitor operations in the field. You will develop the subcontracting strategy operating procedures staffing plan and the contracts section of the Project Execution Plan. You will review and approve bid details commitments and negotiations. Your oversight will ensure project subcontracting is consistent and that requirements have been implemented.
Major Responsibilities:
Participates with the project team on a large project in defining and developing the scope of Contracts work and in preparing and coordinating Contract plans procedures schedules estimates forecasts and budgets
Contributes Contracts input to the preparation and/or modifications of the projects prime contract
Prepares and/or directs preparation of commercial terms and conditions for use on all project contract documents ensuring that requirements of the prime contract are incorporated
Coordinates Contract execution plan with Engineering and Construction plans and operations to ensure that input from these disciplines will enable Contracts to perform its functions in accordance with project plans
Reviews commitment approvals and execution/signature authorities and ensures commitments are made in accordance with Corporate and Contract policies and procedures
Manages the Subcontract for a contract of medium risk or complexity
Develops and implements a Subcontract Management Program for the project consistent with the Standard Work Process Procedures and the Subcontract/Contract Management Guidebook
Analyzes the subcontract commercial terms and conditions to highlight areas of risk such as ambiguities conflicts or deviations from the scope of work
Makes recommendations to the Site Manager on the mitigation of these risks and closely monitors and supports remedial actions and recommend appropriate tradeoffs
Works with the other Project Team members to ensure that Bechtel or customer related actions or inactions which could result in constructive subcontract changes are identified and make recommendations on their resolution
Maintains a working relationship with Construction Engineering Procurement Legal and Risk Management to facilitate organizational interfaces between those performing subcontract administration
Adheres to subcontract insurance provisions and to ensure implementation of any requirements in this regard with Regional and Corporate Risk Management personnel Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesEducation and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Experienced in project planning and operations including both office and jobsite locations.
Experienced in the management or supervision of personnel including defining tasks making work assignments and evaluating performance.
Experience and courses in pricing contract law contract drafting administration and negotiation of change orders effective correspondence planning and scheduling
Thorough knowledge of (sub)contract administration home office and field procedures and documents relating to a multi-discipline construction project
Direct experience in the function of managing workload distribution and execution of the work as well as personnel interviews selection salary planning classification changes performance evaluation career counseling transfers and terminations
Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices applicable government and commercial regulations and practices and Bechtel policies procedures and work practices
