Systems Support Specialist

Job Purpose:

This position provides tier 1 & 2 support for the technology needs at Utah mines with emphasis on desktop and infrastructure support. Areas of responsibility include hardware support for Intel/AMD equipment personal computer configuration tuning diagnosing and resolution of problems. Assisting with end user support including training as needed and direction to best accomplish the user needs. Key focus is working with IT staff users and third parties involved in the Arch default business areas. Also provide hands on support for site specific equipment.

PC Desktop Support. Provide tier 1 & 2 (occasionally 3) support by setting up pre-imaged computer systems configuring hardware and installing hardware utilizing the Service Desk management tool to proactively manage the technical environment and maintain a customer focus. Additionally onsite support for Windows server backups. Also identifying diagnosing and resolution of problems. Installation and termination of network cabling and fiber optic wiring.

Install and maintain all network printers. Assist as needed with cameras cabling and onsite software needs. Onsite liaison for networking servers and systems and interface with repair persons and corporate IT departments.

Assist with user requests special unique projects supporting technology initiatives for the Utah region including infrastructure upgrades/replacements PBX hardware support and mining systems in compliance with corporate standards and guidelines.

Routine Maintenance on workstations and local infrastructure/hardware.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate degree with emphasis in Computer Science math engineering business or equivalent experience.
• 2 years experience with various Microsoft operating systems.
• 2 years of experience with Systems Support.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to crawl bend and lift up to 50 lbs. Requires good manual dexterity and may require some infrastructure handling mounting etc.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work in a team environment
• 32 hr. MSHA training when hired Arch Coal will cover the cost of the training which will be given at the specific site of employment. And must be renewed each year.
• Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of how networks are set-up and basic knowledge of how they work.
• Able to work outside of normal hours to address emergencies and perform scheduled off-hour activities.

• Familiarity with specifications of and ordering IT related equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working with Fiber Optics

• Previous experience in a coal mining environment.
• Previous training on pulling/making network cables and troubleshooting networks
• Working with and understanding network switches firewalls and routers
