Job Description

World Language Teacher (.6 FTE - 3 Days a Week)General John Nixon Elementary Schools is seeking a qualified Spanish Teacher to work with grades 1-5 in developing competencies knowledge and skills comprehending speaking reading and writing in Spanish. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Teach skills and knowledge in the instruction of Spanish to elementary school students through appropriate learning activities; Develop lesson plans including supplementary materials and participate in curriculum and other developmental programs; Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student; Develop student understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where Spanish is spoken; Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needs to provide an orderly productive classroom environment; Communicate with parents and school counselors on students progress; Collaborate alongside classroom teachers to connect student learning through Spanish where appropriate; Fosters student interest in and understanding of the Spanish language; Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or : SEA Unit Position Schedule: Work 183 days/year - prorated .6 FTE - 3 Days a weekSalary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
