POSITION: The BEACON Program Coordinator (Believing Every Adolescent Can Open New Doors) is an alternative program for students at risk for not graduating with their class working under the direction of the high school Principal. Students spend their morning at GHS taking classes with GHS teachers and peers and then are transported after lunch to the BEACON program during the afternoon. The BEACON programs goal is to work with students to make sure that they graduate from high school with a clear plan for continued education career or technical DESCRIPTION: 1) Academic Coaching & Edmentum/Credit Recovery. The Coordinator will focus on helping students with their school work and supporting any Edmentum or credit recovery they need to do. This will include supporting students to understand the local graduation requirements and establishing a plan to meet them with an agreed upon timeline. The Coordinator will then work with the student to implement their plan and monitor progress.2) BEACON Projects: Throughout the week BEACON engages students in real world learning that helps develop the skills they need for lifelong success. Projects are focused on the following areas: Service Projects Business/Entrepreneurial Projects Team and Community Building Projects.3)The BEACON Coordinator will partner with Greenfield High School Guidance Counselors to ensure the students are on track with both graduation credits and requirements4) The BEACON Coordinator will partner with community organizations such as the Greenfield YMCA Greenfield Community College and also do outreach to form community partnerships that enrich and support the program and the students needs accordingly.5) Other related duties as position is a .6 FTE and salary is per the GEA contract starting at $51282.00
