Work Schedule: 5-20 hrs per week between the hours of 8 am - 10 am Tuesday - Thursday and 11 am - 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday
Desired Length of Employment: Fall/Ongoing
Pay Rate: $10.50-$11.50 per hour
Key Components:
This position is reserved for Federal Work Study (FWS) students only. Assist in retail sales store operations and merchandising donations
- In a student employee capacity may assist in working with external community service partners
- Interacting with customer service and sales.
- Marketing and advertising the store via social media.
- Decorating window and floor displays.
- Operating cash register.
- Sorting tagging and organizing donations.
- Maintaining safe and clean environment through custodial tasks.
- Helping oversee our Online Sales component when requested.
Required Skills:
- Social media knowledge.
- Creative display skills.
- Comfortable with learning and operating sales transactions.
- Physically capable to sort donations and general knowledge of merchandizing.
- Assist with developing the merchandising displays throughout the store.
Soft skills
- People-oriented! Ready to meet and greet and assist customers and receiving donations.
- Willingness to perform required tasks of operating the store and managing the sales.
Learning Outcomes:
- Building customer skills with all who enter the store.
- Enhancing ability to operate the store under supervision.
- Enhancing abilities to manage social media advertising as well as creating appealing displays.
- Operating cash and credit sales.
- Broadening ones appreciation of non-profit retail business which relies on dedication and commitment to getting the job done while enlarging the customer base.
Job Description:
- Work with local organization(s) or community partners
- Provide excellent customer service as a representative of the University
- May assist with planning organizing and implementing community services or programs
- May assist with various projects activities or tasks related to community projects
- May contribute to developing and maintaining good relationships with internal and external partners
- May serve as a source to provide information about resources and assistance related to community program(s) or service(s)
- May serve to enhance outreach for the greater Waco community
- Ensure confidentiality of all pertinent information
- May prepare and present information in a group or workshop setting
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
