WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A MANAGER OF CARDIOVASCULARSERVICES

The Manager of Cardiovascular Services is responsible for the daily oversight of the Cardiovascular Services and Echocardiography Departments. The Manager of CV Services will have a combination of clinical and managerial responsibility to ensure the departments are running smoothly and productively. The position is directly responsible for oversight of staffing scheduling regulatory and accrediting agency compliance procedural protocols and maintaining equipment. The Manager of CV Services will work closely with the Director of Cardiovascular Services to ensure that the best possible care is being provided to our patients. The Manager is expected to perform proficiently clinically and meet the duties inherent in the job description.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Assure effective and efficient utilization of staff and other resources for the delivery of patient care while preforming testing for optimal patient care.
  • Creates/validates daily assignments that reflect appropriate assignments for all staff
  • Maintains on call schedule and ensures appropriate echo staffing to achieve coverage 24 hours per day 365 days per year
  • Monitors employee productivity and collaborates with staff to promote efficiency and minimize overtime while maintaining high quality care.
  • Maintains assigned employees payroll according to policy
  • Participate in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills
  • Ensures echo support to Structural Heart Program for all new Invasive procedures (e.g. TAVR Watchman MitraClip)
  • Maintains Accreditation of the echo lab according to the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Echo Laboratories (IACEL) standards. Validates that all physicians and staff are meeting guidelines for transthoracic transesophageal and stress echocardiograms as defined by IACEL
  • Oversight of scheduling and testing done in Cardiovascular Sciences (Echocardiography EKG Stress testing).
  • Ensures maintenance of sanitation standards chemical handling fire prevention and safety food handling and storage and safe equipment operation in accordance with department Federal State and Local Regulatory policies procedures and standards.
  • Maintains and ensures proper Transesophageal Probe Cleaning while adhering to guidelines specified by Manufacturer DOH and Infectious Control policies from the organization. Ensures all staff responsible for high level disinfection are adequately trained in both the process as well as emergency procedures (e.g. spill eyewash station)
  • Oversees training of new employees assigns preceptors and monitors progress throughout orientation period
  • Working with Human Resources responsible for recruiting and hiring staff as well as ensuring compliance with hospital policies and protocols through the use of disciplinary action when necessary
  • Delegates and oversees organizational education related to cardiology (e.g. PCTs EKG training)
  • Completes and conducts employee performance appraisals and annual competencies
  • Adhere to and holds staff accountable for Making Ellis Exceptional (MEE) Behaviors & Standards and AIDET
  • Acts as a change agent supporting and promoting quality improvement within the department and organizational wide
  • Identifies responds and investigates potential and actual risk management issues and prevents re-occurrence by establishing and implementing an action plan.
  • Provides ongoing communication coordination and collaboration with all members of the Health Care Team and develops effective professional working relationships with other organizational leaders
  • Promotes an environment that enhances safety communication and satisfaction for patients and staff
  • Ensures data and statistics are provided as requested to evaluate quality and efficiency.
  • Assist the director with variance reports and annual and capital budget preparations.
  • Works collaboratively with ancillary departments (e.g. finance IT) to ensure accurate charge entry and revenue optimization
  • Demonstrates professional growth and accountability for own practice and facilitates the professional growth and development of assigned staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Associates Degree in Echocardiography/Sonography required

Experience: Minimum 5 years experience as a staff echocardiographer. Previous supervisory or managerial experience preferred.

Certification: Registration/Certification in Cardiac Sonography (ARDMS RCIS Etc.) required

Salary Range: $ 38.59-$57.89 /hour Pay is based on experience skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the states
