Job Description

This position exists to supervise employees of the Building Services department in performing their duties to assist in determining cleaning methods to make schedules and work assignments and to ensure high levels of cleanliness are maintained.

This position has been designated as weather and emergency essential. In the event of a short-term University closure or emergency event incumbent is required to report to work and respond as requested. Refer to Minnesota State Board Policy 4.4 Weather / Short Term Emergency Closings at: Range:

Work safely at all times which includes but is not limited to participating and completing all required safety trainings as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools equipment and personal protective equipment.

The Minnesota State University Mankato Annual Security and Fire Safety Report is available for your review. This report is required by federal law and contains policy statements and crime statistics for the University. The policy statements address the schools policies procedures and programs concerning safety and security. Three years worth of statistics are included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on-campus or in other University affiliated locations. This position requires a valid applicable drivers license as well as a DVS records check with an acceptable rating. Employees must have an active valid and applicable drivers license if they drive a vehicle on state business. For further information please refer to the Drivers License and Record Check Policy (HR/LR Policy #1419) which can be found at: position requires a passing background check under Minnesota Statutes 299C.60 to 299C.64 Minnesota Child Protection Background Check Act. It is expected that the employee maintains the ability to pass applicable background check throughout employment. It is the employees responsibility to notify the supervisor no later than the beginning of your next shift of any charges allegations convictions that may impact their standing under the applicable background check.

This position will perform all facets of custodial work including but not limited to event setups and teardowns snow removal carpet cleaning vacuuming hard floor maintenance and all other aspects of custodial work.

The Supervisor is expected to meet the weight/torque requirements as posted:

Equipment/Duty; Weight; Push/Pull Torque; Description of Duty:
Load/Unload Table Cart; 25-45lbs; 18lbs for moving cart; Lift table (usually done with tow people).
Gym Floor Matting; 40-50lbs; 60lbs for moving cart 10lbs for unrolling mat 40-50lbs lifting mat; Two people required to lift mats off cart. Must be positioned on floor and then rolled out.
Dust Mopping; 11lbs; 6lbs on dry floor 12lbs on floor tracked with sand and salt; Gym floors are dusted before during and after events.
Snow Shoveling; 4lbs; 10-40lbs depending on weight of the snow; Clean entries sidewalks and emergency exits (including 2nd floor exits).
Trash Remote (Brute Container); 25-50lbs; 2lbs to push/pull cart weight of barrel will vary depending on the quantity and type trash; Transport bags or trash from site to larger receptable (tilt truck).
Trash Removal; 285lbs; 23lbs push/pull; Transport bags of trash from building to outdoor dumpster.
Bleacher gates; 50lbs; Portable gates for bleachers that must be lifted into place and removed when bleachers are needed for an event. May require two people to lift.
Furniture; 100lbs; 70lbs; Two people lifting. Two - three people pushing/pulling.

Summer Days & Hours: Monday - Friday; 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
