Job Title: Access Coordinator

Position #Requisition #37231

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Disability Access and Inclusion (ODAI) at CU Anschutz the Access Coordinator is responsible for meeting with students requesting accommodations assessing and determining appropriate accommodations providing case management and support in implementing the recommended accommodations supporting ODAIs alternative testing services and providing educational and training services to members of the campus community. This role will be instrumental in creating an exceptional student experience. An access coordinator must be able to partner with all areas of the university community and implement the best programmatic and policy practices to promote a vibrant diverse and inclusive co-curricular learning environment. This is a hybrid work position. Morning and evening hours outside of the 8:00 am 5:00 pm workday will occasionally be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct access consultations to determine disability status and eligibility for student accommodation across the student experience from connection to completion.
  • Review documentation and program requirements to determine appropriate accommodations as part of the interactive process.
  • Document all significant student interaction accommodation requests interactive process and decision-making in case notes.
  • Support ODAIs alternative testing services.
  • Fulfill requests for alternative formats of course materials and provide students access to necessary assistive technology in collaboration with the Center for Inclusive Design & Engineering (CIDE).
  • Coordinate notetaking closed captioning and any other classroom accommodations with program faculty.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelors degree in education psychology health sciences higher education counseling student affairs social work or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a year for year basis but not for the specific experience.
  • One year of experience determining disability and reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Education Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology or closely related field.
  • Experience working with students in a postsecondary environment.
  • Experience working in a medical or other health science setting.
  • Experience reviewing medical and/or psychological documentation and working through an interactive process for determining accommodations.
  • Experience determining and implementing assistive technology.

Competencies/Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain a database for tracking requests and accommodations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal laws including American with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act as they pertain to a post-secondary or health sciences environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting hiring range for this position has been established as $47703 - $52500 per year.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
