Responsibilities & Qualifications
What Youll Do:
- Serve as a Civil Engineer for a variety of highway and roadway infrastructure projects with a focus on New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT)-led initiatives.
- Lead or support the development of design plans calculations and specifications using MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Collaborate with project managers and senior technical staff to develop and execute production work plans ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Support the preparation of NMDOT PS&E packages including cost estimates special provisions and bid documents.
- Apply a solid understanding of NMDOT design standards guidelines and policies to ensure compliant and constructible designs.
- Participate in field reviews site visits and coordination meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Assist in mentoring junior staff and contribute to a collaborative growth-oriented team culture.
What Youll Bring:
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Mexico or ability to obtain.
- 510 years of progressive experience in civil/transportation engineering with an emphasis on roadway and highway design.
- Demonstrated experience working on NMDOT or similar state DOT projects.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD); familiarity with InRoads or Civil 3D is a plus.
- Strong ability to develop and review engineering plans specifications and technical reports.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a focus on client service.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
