Job Summary:
Chimes Aviation Academy India s leading FTO is looking for a qualified and experienced AELP Interlocutor to facilitate ICAO-compliant Aviation English Language Proficiency tests for cadet pilots. The interlocutor will be required to conduct tests to check for proficiency in spoken Aviation English as per the organizations testing policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct oral interaction segments of the Aviation English Language Proficiency Test (as per ICAO Doc 9835 and DGCA CAR).
- Administer tests to candidates in a controlled environment.
- Collaborate with the Language Proficiency Rater/Examiner during the test session.
- Ensure impartiality consistency and adherence to ICAO and DGCA AELP standards.
- Maintain test integrity and confidentiality of all candidate data and materials.
- Provide feedback to assessors or test administrators if required.
Requirements
Essential:
- A Pilot/ Air Traffic Controller whose license must be endorsed with AELP Expert Level 6
- At least 5 years of operational experience in civil aviation operations
- Completed AELP Interlocutor training approved by DGCA / ICAO-compliant training authority.
- Excellent command of spoken English and interpersonal communication skills.
- Familiarity with aviation terminology and phraseology (preferably with operational experience or aviation background).
Preferred:
- Prior work with AELP testing agencies (India or abroad).
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to testing centres on short notice
- Availability on weekdays and weekends depending on testing schedules.

Essential: At least 10 years of Radio Telephony Experience as a Flight Crew Member/ Air Traffic Controller/ Aeronautical Station Operator in Civil Aciation Master s degree (or equivalent) in Applied Linguistics, English, TESOL, or Language Assessment. Formal training and certification as AELP Rater 1 by a DGCA-approved training provider. Deep understanding of ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements (LPRs). Experience in English language teaching or assessment (minimum 3 years preferred). High proficiency in spoken and written English (ICAO Level 6 or equivalent). Strong analytical and documentation skills. Preferred: Experience as an IELTS, TOEFL, or other language proficiency rater. Background in aviation English or exposure to aviation operational environments. Familiarity with DGCA AELP CAR documentation and AELP systems in India. Additional Requirements: Ability to maintain strict neutrality and confidentiality. Participation in initial and recurrent training, standardization, and rater benchmarking activities. Willingness to work flexibly based on testing schedules. Basic computer literacy and ability to work with audio/video rating platforms.
