Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Scientist II to join our Remediation team in Pittsburgh PA.  You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services 

The selected candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across PA. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills organizational and time management skills flexibility to work on a range of projects and a positive attitude.

The selected candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team clients site personnel and office management and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team and will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.

The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample difficulties with the equipment etc. 
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists. 
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge. 
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis. 
Interprets and records data conducts analyses compares findings to relevant studies and local state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.


Qualifications :

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Drivers License and as a condition of employment must pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • As a condition of employment candidates must pass a drug screening

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • 3 years of experience in investigations and studies remediation remedy or design
  • Experience with application of techniques and procedures including mulit-media sampling (soil groundwater sediment air) 
  • Experience with US EPA NJDEP PADEP
  • Subcontractor oversight experience
  • Experience with soil logging and groundwater monitoring well installation
  • Understanding of project delivery requirements
  • Knowledge to conduct reports with creativity foresight collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Project management experience and developing project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence
