EAST PROVIDENCE SCHOOL DEPARTMENTStaff AccountantJob DescriptionClass Title:Staff Accountant Department:AdministrationClassification:Administrator 12 monthsImmediate Supervisor:Director of FinanceCLASS DESCRIPTIONUnder the direction of the Director of Finance the Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the day to day operations of the business DUTIES AND and post journal entries for payroll accruals receipts for student activity funds accounting reporting and with annual financial audit and provide outside auditing firm with documentation reports and analyses as with budget entry and with monthly general ledger account and record school department bank reconciliation school staff with trouble shooting financial software general ledger account coding purchase requisitions purchase orders and invoices as in managing all federal state and local any additional accounting duties as requested by the Director of Finance or Controller to ensure efficient business operationsKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIESWorking knowledge of district and school rules state and federal regulations and policies applicable to area of to work effectively with district personnel administrators staff parents outside agencies other school districts and the community in a confidential be highly detailed and organized. Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish with email and Microsoft Office especially Excel. Government accounting software experience to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees management and external agencies to maximize performance creativity problem solving and QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting finance or related business (1) to three (3) years experience with municipal non-profit and/or fund accounting preferredExperience working with Microsoft Excel including basic formulas and pivot tablesExperience with Infinite Visions accounting software preferredExperience working with the RI Department of Educations Uniform Chart of Accounts (UCOA) preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
