Job Description

The Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs provides educational and administrative leadership to Academic and Student Affairs faculty and staff to achieve a high standard of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning inclusion and diversity strategic retention management persistence and completion instructional and student support technologies management and operation of all student services and faculty and staff professional growth. The Vice President will provide the vision and overall guidance for policy formulation educational planning the Higher Learning Commission and programmatic accreditation processes budgeting and new program development in an integrated academic and student services/student success setting. The Vice President will report to the Lake Superior College President and serve as the executive administrative representative on Academic Affairs and Standards Council and participate in various Minnesota State community state and national organizations.

Salary Range

$116314 $185771 Annually

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in any field related to the College programming or to higher education leadership;
  • 3 or more years of administrative experience at the level of Dean or higher; 3 or more years of higher education teaching experience or equivalent experience working with faculty and students;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the comprehensive community and technical college;
  • Experience managing complex budgets;
  • Administrative-level experience working in a unionized College or University environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons from diverse backgrounds and commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Preferred Qualification

  • Doctorate degree in a College-related field with an alignment to managing and leading in Higher Education;
  • Demonstrated success developing and sustaining new academic programs;
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing effective enrollment management strategies;
  • Knowledge of and experience with policies and practices relating to excellence in teaching; curriculum development; instructional program planning and budgeting; program innovation assessment program development and review; articulation/transfer; faculty evaluation; staff development; distance and on-line education; course and faculty scheduling; technology to support instruction and overall college infrastructure; and customized training;
  • Knowledge of and experience in the areas of fostering relationships with public school and workforce partners;
  • Experience with or knowledge of customized training or revenue-generating workforce solutions;
  • Experience supervising employees in a collective bargaining environment;
  • Success in grant writing and administration;
