Job Description

Marion County requires on-site work. Remote work is not available.


GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs a variety of tasks involving custodial care of county buildings.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of a custodial supervisor who assigns projects and reviews work for conformance to standards.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.

Typical Duties - Duties include but are not limited to the following

  • Empties trash and recycling on multiple floors
  • Disposes trash and recycling in proper dumpsters
  • Climbs ladders and stairs
  • Removes surface dirt/dust on horizontal surfaces at a variety of heights
  • Removes surface dirt/debris from hard floor surfaces
  • Vacuum carpeting Use carpet cleaners
  • Operates and cleans various equipment
  • Cleans and disinfects toilets urinals sinks walls vents trash cans sanitary disposal boxes and partitions
  • Sweeps/Mops multiple floors
  • Cleans windows mirrors and glass at a variety of heights
  • Clean walls doors door frames and light switch plates
  • Cleans under desk and behind office equipment
  • Working and reaching above shoulders
  • Prepares chemicals as per instructions using basic math skills to compute dilution ratios
  • Maintain building security Maintain a clean and organized closet
  • Understands and carries out written and verbal instructions
  • Maintains punctual and regular attendance
  • Carries Cell phone and makes sure it is operating properly everyday
  • Complies with department and county policies procedures and regulations Use computer to check email daily respond to emails in timely manner take training courses order supplies/laundry schedule time off maintain time sheets fill out WOs (Daily and all others) and any other tasks
  • Possess and maintain a current Oregon drivers license and an acceptable driving record
  • Maintain CJIS clearance
  • Responds to customer special requests for removal of debris cleanup of spills etc.
  • Orders and puts away supplies
  • Make sure all equipment and supplies are OSHA compliant
  • Attends various meetings
  • Complete required training
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements for the Position

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  1. Graduation from high school or equivalent and some experience with janitorial techniques; OR
  2. Any satisfactory combination of work education training or experience relevant to the position as determined by Marion County.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Operates a motor vehicle; bends stoops squats and twists; stands and walks for long periods of time; engages in repetitive work motions such as gripping lifting and mopping; reaches above shoulders and head; climbs ladders and stairs; cleans surfaces at a variety of heights and angles; lifts and carries equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes and pulls up to 75 lbs.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions about your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or the US Department of Education.

VISA SPONSORSHIP
Marion County does not offer VISA sponsorship. Within three days of hireyou will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Securitys I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. Marion County is an E-Verify employer and will use E-Verify to confirm that hires are authorized to work in the United States.
