Location: Roots of Resilience Charter School Drayton Valley Alberta
About Us: Roots of Resilience Charter School is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and empowering environment for students. Our school provides a safe caring nurturing and inspiring Indigenous learning environment where students will see themselves and their culture reflected in all aspects of their educational experience. We emphasize Indigenous pedagogies and the Two-Eyed Seeing approach to learning which integrates Indigenous and Western ways of knowing. Our mission is to inspire hope build confidence self-esteem and determination in our students.
We are seeking school staff committed to creating and supporting inclusive learning environments to guide and connect students to find their path of learning based on their own gifts skills interests abilities and strengths.
Working with school home and community staff will play an integral role in building connections strengthen relationships and fostering a sense of belonging resulting in success and fulfillment in school and beyond.
We are currently looking to hire full-time teachers that want to work in a collaborative supportive team environment and who embrace the concept of mixed grade classes that respect each student as an individual learner. We require two elementary teachers a middle school teacher and a high school teacher with a range of experience beginning August 25 2025.
Responsibilities:
Implement curriculum integrating Indigenous pedagogies and the Two-Eyed Seeing approach.
Develop and implement engaging learning opportunities that align with the curriculum and Charter goals
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
Foster students personal growth confidence and self-esteem through culturally relevant teaching practices.
Collaborate with colleagues parents and the community to support student learning and well-being.
Assess and monitor student progress providing constructive feedback and support.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of Indigenous education.
Professional Competencies:
Bachelors degree in Education.
Teaching certification in Alberta or ability to attain.
Experience in Indigenous education and familiarity with Indigenous pedagogies.
Strong understanding of the Two-Eyed Seeing approach.
The ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning is an asset.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to creating a positive and inspiring learning environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse community.
Assess and monitor student progress providing constructive feedback and support.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of Indigenous education.

Competitive PayScale: $62089.00-$105447.00 per year
