Consumer Insurance - Project Risk Advisor

About the role:

The role of Project Risk Advisor is to provide first line risk support and advice for change initiatives. The role is responsible for identifying risks supporting delivery teams with delivered and delivery risk assessments and to be aware of obligations and ensure missions and initiatives are delivered safely from a risk perspective.

The Project Risk Advisor role contributes to a team that plays an active part in improving the execution of change initiatives through governance and assurance providing oversight of change activities to optimise delivery and maximise realisation of benefits. The role actively contributes to the Consumer Performance Risk and Executive Office program of work to identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives and supports capability uplift when working closely with Business Risk Partners Enterprise Delivery & Risk and the wider Risk community.

More specifically you will:

  • Lead and manage the provision of project risk advice and support to ensure delivery teams conduct assessment activity and manage delivery as per the Project Risk Management Standard governance framework and guardrails.
  • Design creation and management of procedural and process documentation to ensure requirements and expectation are appropriately documented.
  • Delivery of training to delivery teams and risk resources.
  • Provide insight and support to the Business Risk Partner teams to facilitate uplift in risk practices
  • Ensure that business practices are in line with expectations and that the balance between business specific needs and risk level consistency is met.
  • Identification of risks and issues within the business to ensure we are providing our customers with a high quality market leading experience.
  • Actively share learnings and insights broadly across the Risk community to foster a learning culture and and uplift capability
  • Support and execute on the three lines of defence risk model as set out by the Suncorp Board
  • Help the business to truly know and understand risks and obligations through building capability and maturity.

About You:

  • Relevant degree in Business Law or related field (Desired)
  • Minimum of two (2) years risk compliance audit or project management experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of appropriate industry experience in general insurance
  • Demonstrated experience in influential communication to senior management (Mandatory)
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring for high performance (Mandatory)
  • Experience in communications and change management (highly regarded)

Key Capabilities:

  • Advanced experience in managing stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in optimisation process design and delivery execution
  • Knowledge of risk management methodologies and practices and their application in a 1LOD environment
  • Good understanding of the insurance products industry market environment and customer segment.
  • Ability to undertake both quantitative and qualitative analysis and draw conclusions and highlight risks
  • Ability to draw out key points & metrics for the reader to focus on and discuss the information with objectivity foresight & transparency to ensure users clearly understand the issues
  • Advanced ability to convey and explain information coherently and confidently both verbally and in writing with minimal supervision
  • Advanced ability to drive robust discussion and debate having the commercial acumen to escalate matters where required.
  • Customer service committed to delivering a quality differentiated experience to all customers.
  • Time management skills prioritisation of work without supervision
  • Change management capability - ability to recognise understand and support need for change and anticipated impact on both the team and self.

  • An understanding of significant legislative regulatory and code or practice requirements impacting Suncorp as a Group (eg. Privacy Act Trade Practices legislation ASIC policy / APRA prudential standards etc)
  • Deep risk expertise coupled with energy and passion for the risk profession
