The Applications System Analyst I position was established through the CDC and funded by the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity (ELC) for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases grant. The Applications Systems Analyst will conduct analyses for the wastewater surveillance program and other public health processes for the NC Wastewater Monitoring Network (NCWMN) within the NC Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health.

The Applications System Analyst I will manage weekly wastewater data entry and collection in RedCap with the State Laboratories and other partners in North Carolina. This position will create reports to send to the local health departments (LHD) and wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) collaborating with the Tableau teams to update and check the COVID-19 Wastewater Monitoring Dashboard weekly. The Applications Systems Analyst will be capable of using software systems to process geospatial data of new samples from various sites spatial correlation studies sewer shed and travel time estimates.



About the Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch:
The Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch investigates workplace and environmental conditions that may pose a risk to human health. Our expertise includes epidemiology toxicology industrial hygiene and health communications. We identify and quantify environmental concerns for public health surveillance provide medical consultations for exposures of concern at work or in communities conduct risk assessments and provide scientifically based guidance on acceptable levels of exposure to environmental contaminants.

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:


Management Preferences:
  • Demonstrated coursework in geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Demonstrated experience working in public health
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the federal state local or academic partners.
  • Extensive experience communicating in written and verbal form

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Qualified applicants must possess and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

Bachelors degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution
OR
Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development
OR
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
