Job Title:Automotive Fundamentals - Electronics Technician

Primary Purpose:The Automotive Fundamentals / Electronics Technician Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in automotive systems and electronic technologies preparing students for entry-level positions in the automotive service industry and/or further specialized training. The teacher will emphasize safety diagnostics repair techniques and foundational knowledge aligned with industry standards and certifications.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelors degree in Automotive Technology Industrial Technology or a related field or appropriate industry certification/license with verifiable experience.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate in Trade and Industrial Education or eligibility for a Probationary CTE Certificate.
- ASE Certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
- Industry experience in electronics diagnostics and repair a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of two to five years of recent industry experience in automotive service and/or electronics technology.
- Prior teaching experience preferred but not required.
- *Windham School District must be able to issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience.
- This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) for Automotive Technology and Electronics.
- Provide hands-on training in basic automotive systems (engine brakes suspension electrical/electronic systems).
- Introduce students to diagnostic tools and software emphasizing real-world applications.
- Maintain an organized safe and functional lab environment that supports student learning.
- Integrate industry-based certifications (e.g. ASE Entry-Level Snap-on Multimeter Certification SP2 Safety) into instruction.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of performance attendance and certifications.
- Support students in career planning including exposure to postsecondary opportunities apprenticeships and work-based learning.
- Collaborate with other CTE teachers administrators and industry partners to enhance the program.
- Attend required training professional development and maintain relevant certifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Policy Reports and Law:
- Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information received in the performance of the job duties.
- Perform duties in a professional manner through daily punctual attendance at location of work assignment.
- Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned jobduties.
- Execute duties in a professional ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247 Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise adult incarcerated students in classroom settings. May also supervise teacher aides.
Working Conditions:
- Classroom and automotive lab/shop setting.
- May require lifting use of hand tools and standing for extended periods.
- Occasional travel for training or industry engagement.
