About Our Opportunity:
The Family Counsellor at Vancouver Family Preservation and Reunification provides services primarily to families that promote healthier family functioning and linkages to community resources. This position provides a variety of parenting education support and counselling to children and families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Work Hours: Full-time 35 hours per week with flexible work hours.
Salary: GS 13 Step 1 $37.89 per hour
Location: 4103 Fraser Street at East King Edward Vancouver BC V5V 4E9- with the possibility of working Hybrid environment; in-home work with families in Vancouver.

What do you need to succeed
Education Training Experience
- Masters degree in social work or clinical counselling or equivalent education and experience
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge Skills Abilities
- Knowledge of child welfare policies and practices
- Working knowledge of different parenting strategies and the ability to share these strategies with families
- In-depth knowledge of child development and child abuse dynamics
- An understanding of integrated case management/wrap-around service delivery
- An understanding of child and adolescent stages of development
- Superior crisis intervention skills
- Ability to work with families that may present multiple service needs related to poverty addictions violence child abuse or neglect and mental health issues
- Ability to provide counselling in a variety of approaches that best fits client needs either in the office in the community or in their homes
- Ability to support and encourage equity diversity and social justice in the workplace
- Knowledge of computer operating systems i.e. Microsoft Office 365 Excel SharePoint MS Teams
Additional Requirements
- Class 5 Drivers License and personal vehicle
- Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
