Job Description

Job Title: SUMMER LIFT OPERATOR LEVEL I

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports To: Lift Supervisor

Rate of Pay: $16.50/hr

Shift: Full-time or Part-time/On-call Seasonal Position

FT: Four-five shifts per week

PT/OC: One-two shifts per week or less as business demands

Day shifts 9 am to 8pm; Night shifts 7 pm to 1 am; Monday through Sunday

MUST BE AVAILABLE WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS

SUMMARY

Provides an exceptional chair lift experience to guests by promoting safety positivity providing assistance and answering questions about resort and basic mountain area information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operates chairlifts in an efficient manner.

Provides friendly service exceeding guest expectations.

Assists patrons of all ages and all levels on and off lift and instructs them in proper loading procedures.

Treats the guest with utmost concern while loading the chair or interacting with them.

Pays special attention to groups with children and always extends the offer to assist children in loading the lift.

Answers any guest questions and assists in resolving concerns in accordance with Sundance policies and the applicable laws.

Diplomatically handles awkward situations with guests and employees.

Ensures areas around lift stations are free of hazards.

Observes and assists with the proper loading transporting and unloading of guests onto and off the lift.

Knows and abides by Sundances policies and regulations involving the operation of the lift.

Immediately reports all injuries (guest and employee) to 911 bike patrol/safety or supervisor as injury dictates.

Exhibits diligence in checking for guests who may be loading inappropriately or with unapproved items such as dogs alcohol no lift ticket etc.

Checks lift passengers for valid lift tickets and verifies pictures for season pass holders.

Collects and turns in expired invalid or fraudulently used passes.

Engages patron while awaiting the arrival of the Sundance Safety Office.

Ensures effective on-mountain recycling program.

Abides by Sundance Free Ski/Bike policy when biking on the mountain.

Bikes within ability level during free runs in compliance with the free bike policy.

Handles extreme temperatures and outdoor weather conditions.

Loads bikes onto lift chairs.

Performs all other tasks required of Mountain Operation employees based on departmental needs i.e. Lift Maintenance

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Operate 2-way radios for communication to other staff.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk sit climb or balance stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Must be 18 years of age or older.
