The Capacity Management role is responsible for overseeing selected insurance and reinsurance programs within Starwind. This includes ensuring optimal coverage cost efficiency and managing key relationships. The role involves negotiating reinsurance treaties and program agreements maintaining relationships with insurers reinsurers and brokers and analyzing capacity-related needs to support Starwinds risk management strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Program Management: Design implement and manage insurance and reinsurance capacity for new and ongoing programs to align with Starwinds risk appetite and business objectives.
- Strategic Capacity Management: Support design and implement strategic capacity initiatives such as ILS/sidecars multi-program capacity and other strategic arrangements (e.g. initiatives with retailers and wholesalers). Ensure data and reporting compliance.
- Negotiation and Placement: Negotiate terms and conditions of insurance capacity and reinsurance treaties with capacity providers to secure favorable terms.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers reinsurers brokers and other stakeholders.
- Risk Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of Starwinds risk portfolio to determine insurance and reinsurance needs and recommend appropriate coverage.
- Compliance and Organization: Ensure all insurance and reinsurance activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Maintain organized systems and keep internal reporting dashboards and data repositories up to date.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on insurance and reinsurance activities performance and market trends to senior management. Monitor relationships across capacity providers and analyze their results along with evaluation of working relationship status over time and expectations for the future.
- Monitor and Guide: Facilitate capacity provider audits help develop and update underwriting and claims management guidelines and ensure new and ongoing capacity programs are progressing as expected and delivering desired outcomes.
- Claims Management: Oversee the insurance and reinsurance claims process ensuring timely and accurate recovery from insurers and reinsurers.
- Market Research: Stay updated on market trends regulatory changes and emerging risks to inform capacity strategies.
- Develop and Monitor: Build strategic capacity development plans for new lines of business that Starwind desires to enter along with summaries of market and legal environment conditions and Starwinds response to those conditions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work related experience

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior leadership and external stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams external partners and capacity providers
- Competent in maintaining organized systems dashboards and repositories; skilled in preparing detailed performance and market trend reports
- Experience in overseeing claims processes ensuring timely and accurate recoveries and resolving disputes effectively
- Ability to conduct thorough market research and apply insights to inform strategic decisions and capacity development plans
- Familiarity with insurance and reinsurance software platforms data analytics tools (e.g. Excel Power BI Tableau) and CRM systems
