Description of Work
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governors Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporarys skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.50 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Public Safety. This position is located at 417 N. Salisbury St Raleigh NC 27603.The purpose of the State Capitol Police Section is to provide police protection and security for state employees and visitors as well as state owned and leased property; to conduct crime prevention and employee safety programs; to provide investigatory services for criminal activities occurring on state government property; to provide executive protection for federal state and local government officials and other visiting dignitaries to state property; to monitor fire and intrusion alarms; and to notify appropriate resources for incidences such as fire broken water lines power failure and malfunctioning mechanical equipment during both business and non-business hours.

- Maintain good attendance record punctuality and abstain from abusing leave.
- Work effectively with other people to accomplish organizational goals and identify/resolve problems.
- Ensures employees working after normal hours are safe by making periodic checks.
- Ensures State property is protected against fire theft vandalism and illegal entry.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations or suspicious incidents or events and report them to the Communications Center.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
May require the ability to complete emergency medical technician (EMT) training and meet re-certification standards as required.
