POSITION SUMMARY:

The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the creation and delivery of clear engaging internal content for Kemper employees. This role will assist in developing and managing intranet content creating and distributing enterprise-wide emails and newsletters and supporting the timely execution of internal communication plans across teams and channels.

The ideal candidate has prior experience in internal communications strong writing skills and an eagerness to collaborate and grow within the communications function. This position will work closely with senior members of the communications team and cross-functional partners in HR IT and other corporate and business functions.

Position Responsbilities:

  • Assist in developing and distributing internal communications including intranet articles emails newsletters and digital signage for a variety of employee audiences.
  • Partner with colleagues across Kemper support functions to create communications that support their goals priorities and initiatives (e.g. benefits awareness cybersecurity etc.).
  • Maintain and update company intranet content (e.g. department pages news posts etc.)
  • Assist with gathering and reporting internal communication metrics to help measure impact and performance.
  • Support communications related to key employee activities including philanthropy and employee engagement events.
  • Perform copyediting and proofreading to ensure clarity accuracy and consistency across materials.
  • Contribute to and help manage an enterprise-wide communications editorial calendar.
  • Stay current on trends in employee communication and contribute ideas to improve message delivery and the overall employee experience.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in journalism communications or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of relevant communications experience.
  • Excellent writing editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint SharePoint) intranet CMS platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • The range for this position is $59900 to $99700. When determining candidate offers we consider experience skills education certifications and geographic location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical Dental Vision PTO 401k etc.)
