Principal Accountabilities:
- Demonstrated successful classroom teaching experience
- Evidence of well-developed knowledge & implementation of best practices in teaching literacy Grades 2-5
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with adults
- Capacity to develop model and deliver effective learning interventions
- Ability to assess performance analyze data and plan long and short-term interventions
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to provide literacy interventions for students:
- Utilizing research-based knowledge in identifying needs and providing interventions
- Consulting with educators about SRBI process/plan
- Working collaboratively and directly with teachers and other specialists in Grades 2-5 classrooms to identify students needing intervention and to plan improvement strategies
- Collaborating with professional staff to ensure the integration of literacy with the MTSS and Special Education processes
- Providing professional development and coaching related to balanced literacy
- Working with English language learners as part of MTSS
- Designing delivering and assessing effective interventions for small groups and individual students
- Designing implementing monitoring and adjusting data collection analysis and utilization to meet student needs
- Keeping informed of new developments and trends in the fields of literacy in order that innovations and new materials may be explored in the district
- Pursuing professional development that expands coaching knowledge and skills
- Any other assigned duties by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
- Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning including implementing specific strategies for students with special needs with 504 plans andor second language learners.
- Participate in school-wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher.
- Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race color gender age marital status religion national origin sexual orientation homelessness or disability
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
- Education: Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution;
- Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License as an ECE Teacher or a Reading Specialist.
- Hold a valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement OR Grade-level appropriate ESL License;
- Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified;
- Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS-PREFERRED:
- Experience in urban high-poverty and/or turnaround schools;
- Major/minor in specific teaching content area;
- Additional certification in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities and/or English Language Learners (ESL);
- Demonstrated experience in English Language Development (ELD) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies strongly preferred;
- Bilingual language proficiency (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
