Job Description

The weTHRIVE Lab housed within the Psychology Department at PVAMU serves as a hub for evidence-based research and campus-focused mental health initiatives. The Program Director will lead daily operations of the initiative including coordination with key campus stakeholders (Title IX Student Affairs Counseling Services Campus Police) facilitation of student-centered educational programming and oversight of student engagement. This leadership is essential to ensure adherence to best practices and responsiveness to the mental health and wellness needs of the campus community.

This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities:

Program Implementation & Training Oversight:

  • Lead the rollout of intervention prevention and training components.

  • Facilitate educational sessions and workshops for students and staff.

  • Ensure adherence to evidence-based mental health practices.

Staff Supervision & Support:

  • Supervise graduate assistants interns and other project personnel.

  • Conduct regular check-ins provide feedback and support professional development.

  • Ensure all team members are trained in project protocols and expectations.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement:

  • Liaise with internal units (e.g. Title IX RSVP student affairs) and external partners.

  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships to support program goals.

  • Represent the project at meetings events and community outreach efforts.

Administrative Coordination & Compliance:

  • Manage daily logistics scheduling and documentation of project activities.

  • Ensure compliance with university grant and IRB policies.

  • Contribute to budget monitoring and reporting in collaboration with the PI.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in applicable field.

  • Ten years of related experience.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong public speaking organizational leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology Social Work or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in IPV prevention.
