Job Description

Anser Public Charter will be hiring behavior interventionists that have:-an abundance of flexibility and patience-a desire to help children develop skills and adopt behaviors that substantially increase their academic performance in an inclusive setting-an ability to learn from and share with others as a member of an energetic team strong verbal and written communication skills and -the heart of a teacherWe are recruiting for part-time or full time positions. Final schedules will be drawn up when candidates are offered a position. A successful candidate will work with students in grades skills: Include but are not limited to the ability to work under the direction of a teacher support and manage challenging behaviors support students in the general education classroom modify class work to increase accessibility of content and plan for and implement small group and responsibilities:Serve as a guide in instructing students on proper classroom behaviorSupervise students during lunch or recess as well as in between classes or on field tripsContinually supervise assigned students to ensure a safe non-threatening nurturing environment where students can to students physical personal academic and emotional needsTracking students progress and preparing reportsWorking with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in classSupports teachers in meeting the instructional educational behavioral and social emotional needs of students with disabilities in the classroomProvides small group and/or individualized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with the students IEP and the supervising teachers lesson plansCollects instructional and behavioral data for all objectives being taught for each studentImplements Behavior Intervention Plans for students with disabilitiesCommunicates proactively with teachers to inform them of student issues and conversations with parentsResponds to emails and phone calls from school leaders and teachers in a timely mannerAssists during standardized testing to support state and local testing processes and policiesWhen in a school-based learning environment monitors students movement throughout the building to other classrooms learning areas and cafeteriaAssists administrators and other staff members in the orderly expedient and safe transition of students from one location to anotherAssists students with assistive technology devices including communication devices switches and orthopedic devices needed for sitting walking or standingEngages in professional learning opportunities in-personRequired to have prompt regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site in-person during regular business hoursUnder the supervision and guidance of the Special Education Department and/or Behavior Intervention SpecialistComplete monthly trainingPossesses strong collaboration skills and participates as a member of an innovative and creative team open to ideas that best meet the needs of responsibility for accomplishing goals attending faculty and committee meetings as required and/or evaluated by the Education DirectorPerforms other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representativeFollow the Anser Employee Handbook and abide by the expectations set forth inQualifications:1. Idaho Standard Instruction Certificate who meets qualifications for an endorsement specific to special education as defined in IDAPA 08.02.02 OR Habilitative Intervention Certificate of Completion (HI COC) in Idaho Prior to July 1 2019 and does not have a gap of more than 3 years of employment as an intervention specialist OR Bachelors degree in a human services field* OR Bachelors degree and 24 semester credits in a human services field*.2. Previous experience working with children and/or adolescents in a behavior setting.3. Emotionally mature and stable.4. Pass a criminal history background check.5. Able to perform assigned tasks.6. Ability to work with students staff parents and the public.7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. The school serves approximately 560 students K-8. We are located in Garden City and within the boundaries of the Boise School District. Anser is an Expeditionary Learning (EL Education) school rooted in effective teaching and learning practices as a means to ensure that all students are provided a rigorous curriculum embedded with components of strong character and service-learning.
