Financial Planning Analysis Analyst Sr.

Shift: 8am-5pm Weekdays Full-time

Location:Remote/work from home with strong preference for candidates residing within the UPH geographies of Iowa Illinois & Wisconsin.

This position plays a key role in the hospital accounting and financial reporting functions. This role helps ensure the integrity accuracy and completeness of financial data and reporting within generally accepted accounting principles. Manages the monthly closing process for UnityPoint Health at a market level. Analyzes and reviews financial statements to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Accounting Functions Center of Excellence

• Manages the monthly close process for UnityPoint Health Senior Markets.
• Prepare financial statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected financial position.
• Ensures integrity of all financial information under US GAAP.
• Applies accounting and finance knowledge and expertise to help drive influence and gain support to achieve overall strategic and financial initiatives.
• Operates as the subject matter expert in accounting matters related to the respective Senior Market.
• Represents the finance and accounting function in acquisition analysis and acquisition integration and supports the related audit work.
• Prepares technical accounting memos to support accounting positions as required.
• Manages monthly quarterly & annual reporting including the completion of financial statements and footnotes managements discussion and analysis encompassing review of all new accounting matters and application of judgment.
• Prepares and/or reviews quarterly Market financial Board packets.
• Reviews documentation prepared by accounting team for monthly financial statement preparation (i.e. journal entries account reconciliations etc.).
• Drives process change and re-engineering to improve efficiencies in overall accounting finance and business processes.
• Assists with research and documentation of proper accounting treatment for major transactions.
• Works heavily with leadership including Finance Operations Accounts Payable Reimbursement and Business Development teams on complex matters to ensure the appropriate accounting and financial reporting impacts. Regular contact with the market finance business leaders.
• Collaborates with business partners to implement better run finance processes for finance activities especially as it relates to the execution of the shared service center.
• Supports the annual audit processes (internal and external) as well as supports the organization during regulatory audits and internal controls.
• Works with the Treasury team on any debt and equity related transactions from an accounting perspective.

Liaison with Market Finance Teams

• Consistent interaction with UnityPoint Health markets on managing monthly accounting functions and close process.
• Provides assistance to market leadership related to managing and communicating financial results.
• Supports preparation and review of market annual operating budgets.
• Interacts frequently with market finance leaders including site visits to assess compliance with corporate financial policies and the health & overall relevance of the local balance sheets and tracking of its various constituents.
• Ensures all deadlines and schedules are met on time.

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience:

• Minimum seven (7) years of accounting and/or finance experience.

• Previous hospital/healthcare accounting experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statement presentation necessary to support accurate financial reporting

Other:

• Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
• Occasional travel within the UPH geography
